Averroes (Ibn Rushd) (1126–1198)
Averroes, also known as Ibn Rushd, was an Andalusian philosopher and polymath who made significant contributions to Islamic philosophy, theology, and medicine. He is best known for his commentaries on Aristotle's works, which reintroduced Aristotelian philosophy to the Western world.
Averroes argued for the compatibility of religion and philosophy, and he believed that truth could be reached through both revelation and reason. His works greatly influenced both Islamic and Christian medieval thought.
